Seven flights between Brazil and New York were canceled on Thursday (01/11), and five of them were referred to the Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo, and the other two for Galeao Airport, in Rio de Janeiro.
Three of the flights were canceled by United Airlines (one departing from Newark to Guarulhos and two between Chicago and São Paulo)one by TAM (between New York and Rio), two American Airlines (One from New York to Guarulhos and another one between new York and Rio) and another by Delta Airlines (also between New York and São Paulo).
The orientation of TAM is for customers with tickets to the U.S. East Coast to contact the Helpline, by the numbers 4002-5700 for capital and 0800-570-5700 for other locations, before heading to airport. United Airlines released phones (11) 2122-7500 and (11) 3145-4200 for information on travel to or from São Paulo, and for Rio the number 0800-702-75-00.
According to a site specializing in air traffic throughout U.S. territory, about 19 thousand flights were canceled because of the storm.
