On Friday (5) the mayor of the city of São José dos Campos attended the ceremony order of service for the expansion and modernization of the airport in São José dos Campos are initiated. The Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Company (Infraero), also participated in the event and presented the project of the new passenger terminal. The work is estimated at R$ 16.6 million.
According to Infraero, is the prediction that in five years the movement at the airport located in the city of São Paulo is expected to grow to 490,000 passengers per year. In 2012, 212 thousand passengers were served by operations in the terminal for loading and unloading. The state company also intends to use the airport to assist in the operations of the airports of Guarulhos and Campinas in the coming years.
The intention is that the completed works bring more comfort to passengers, since there will be deploying new boarding gates, installation of two baggage carousels in arrivals, new service counters for check-in, creating of approximately 320 parking spaces and given space for motorbikes and bicycles. The airport of São José dos Campos will also have the ability to meet three positions of aircraft in the yard simultaneously.
The winner of the bidding process was the consortium Tecman / MPE. The consortium will have until May 2014 to perform the services.
