According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), there was a 3.7% increase in the number of tickets sold worldwide. The trend, according to IATA, is that the phenomenon will continue in 2013.
Meanwhile, the ability to meet demand grew only 2.7%, indicating that the international routes worked with almost all seats sold.
Tony Tyler, IATA’s president, presents the highest confidence in business as the reason for the growth in demand. However, the increase in fuel prices and the crisis affecting the U.S. economy should not discourage the growth of the sector, since companies have launched promotional fares.
The market for air cargo also grew in January this year, driven by Asian countries and the Middle East.
